i passed it by myself, it took me about a week but it was worth it to me, i also found out how to speed through a few of the missions since i died so much and i had to find alternate ways to do things

I havent beat it yet but im on the way !

I beat the first six levels on legendary in co-op. But I beat "The Covenant" and "Halo" on legendary on my own. On "The Covenant" you can skip a lot of the enemies. IGN's Halo 3 Guide tells you how with tons of pictures and a lot of detail. In "Halo" I just let the Arbiter do most of the killing and killed anything that came close to him. But when he took out his energy sword I just stayed back and let him do his stuff. I started "Cortana" and got past the room where the skull is but later when I tried to continue from where I saved, I couldn't. There wasn't a save point. I was so mad that I couldn't bring myself to do it again.

I did it on my third playthrough after beating it on Normal and Heroic...it took awhile but you just have to play it smart, let those shields recharge, and have the right weapons...any experienced gamer can do it. Just stick at it, you'll eventually get it...

I thought the famed Legendary difficulty was harder in the other two games however...never did fully complete Halo: CE or Halo2 on Legenday, maybe that's why

I got around to starting the level "Cortana" again. I got pretty far this time. I'm just before where you enter the reactor room for the first time. It better have a proper save point now because I have to study for a Calc midterm. I never noticed how many energy swords, shotguns, and brute shots there were in the level until now since I'm going so slow I notice a lot more weapons along the way.

IMO, skulls aren't that hard to get.

I agree , once you get the hang of it then it will become easy
