if you want to extort the best graphics at the lowest cost then increase the graphic details and lower the graphic effects like bloom and other
if you have a good processor but a weak graphic card then you can increase the graphic and lower the effects and if you have a good graphic card but a weak processor then increase the effects and lower the details
this way you can have the best visual effects your pc can handle and look at the processor of the graphic card too cos otherwise you'll have lots of useless memory that a weak processor can't do anything with the surplus of memory but a powerful processor on low memory isn't good either so the best graphic card will be a balanced one with both memory and processor at the same level

I'm not saying that you need to run the game at anisotropic 16 or aa 8 or all the extra detail like bloom. Exactly like JeanClaude32 says, thous effects are just extra and don't really count that much in a game like AC. I would say that only a noob would state that its important to run AC on full detail ( really full ) and brag about how "cool" he is. The game will run just fine on a 9500 as I played Unreal Tournament 3 on a 9500 ( no AA and filtering as I can recall ) I was able to crack it up to high without any problems. I do think the VB was able to take it further but I didn't see the point in increasing the detail level.
Also about CrYsis, I was playing CrYsis on VeryHighSpec, and I was pretty pleased with my VB's performance:
Specs at the time I was playing (also my current specs): Q6600 Asus P5N32-E SLI 8800 GT TOP from Asus [512mb version] 2 GB Corsair Dominator 6400C3DF
I think that AC will not have any problems running at high detail on a 9500, its not the type of game that requires extended video processing but more likely a ton of RAM ... I've seen the min specs for the game and if I didn't see what a 8500 can do I'd say that it would not be possible, but I think that if I don't set AA to max and hogging effects like bloom and other Ill be able to run the game at High settings on my old PC (posted a couple of posts back). I'm certain that my EN8500 GT Top can handle the game. Not to mention my 8800 GT Top, will run the game on full spec (I'm 100% convinced)
