It is completely legal (as long as you own the game), so you might as well use it, saves you some time too

Rubbing alcohol works great for me. Alcohol is cheap, probably cheaper than soap. I poured the alcohol into a spray bottle for cleaning my games,DVDs,and CDs. As for soap,I'd think it would leave a residue.

It doesn't. I tried your alcohol theory, now my sims game is screwed up. My Halo CD had a few problems earlier, I used soap and its fine now.

I always use alcohol to clean my games. Works wonders. What you do is spray a light mist on the disc and then gently wipe it off with a soft cloth. As for the Sims...a kid gave me one of those games. I used as a frisbee.

Rightly so... it never was one of my favs. I reckoned if there was a game worth ruining, it would be that. So I tried and tested the alcohol theory on it.

Good thing CDs and DVDs have an acrylic coating, unlike VHS tapes.

@Chingy: Well, to me, the game is a 'I want to play it, play it now'. But after a month, I uninstall it and redo the process.
