ya that happend to mine but mine would not scan and finish so try taking it apart and cleaning it out there are squares on the bottom sides try to pop them out and go on from there
It could be the distance from the laser to the disk, there is a white gear next to the laser inside of the ps2, mark the original location of the gear and rotate it one click in either direstion, put a game in and see if it reads, if not, unplug the ps2 and click it agan, play with the gear until you find the right loction, eventually, if it is the distance of the laser the disk will read.
note: opening youre ps2 will void any warenty you have on the hardware at the moment so do this at youre own risk.
My friend has a step brother that is such a retard and he broke a total of f 8 PS2's by either yanking the controler cord and pulling the PS2 off da high shelf or by carrying them and then end up droppin em and he once left the disc tray open and he like hit it some how and snaped the tray right in half!!!
I mean i never ever ever heard of a person that is on their 9TH PS2!!!!!
