I updated the script now. I added a lot of error handling, and some clear instructions, should the script fail at elevating permissions.

So you'll need to download the latest version of the script (use the same link from the main thread), and remember to overwrite/delete the old version.

If Steams asks to launch the game in Online Mode, you just need to launch the game normally once, then you should be able to use the script afterwards. This is apparently needed after the game receives a patch.

Hopefully it'll work for more people now 🙂
