I am not sure if it is my settings or something, but when I select the resource individually and then go to the trainer then back to the game the resource amount changes but the number on top of the resource is still the same. Then my builder gets stuck and another walks around aimlessly transporting the resource. I tried watching the video you posted but there is no sound. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Have you selected the resource storage individually? did you pause the game while doing it? this steps are very important.
Record the your process so i could see what's happeneing otherwise i can't reproduce.
I changed the recources using the editor myself and built whatever i wanted without any issues.
Also what do you mean with 'amount changes but the number on top of the resource is still the same' ?

Your mistake is that you're expecting the resource quantity to change immediately but the game mechanics doesn't works that way,after changing the resource resume gamepaly and start collecting the resource types you just modified so the changes takes effect.
Thank you so much for the quick reply. I tried waiting for collection of resources, and you were right. It did change. The problem then becomes that the survivors then are not able to use the resource. Every time they try to build with the resource they just walk up to the building to build then walk away. They keep doing this until they need to eat or sleep and it never gets built. Could it be that the trainer needs an update?
This happens when you alter the needed resources for the construction by mistake and not the real resources , to avoid this pause the game and select the resource individually then edit the resource and resume the game and gain or lose some of the the resource you just edited and avoid freezing the resource amount as well then survivors will use the resources.
