I got an idea which might be interesting to discuss in general.

As all know, early access titles are mostly nightmare for trainer programers due high update frequency on one hand and mostly not so many users on the other hand.

Of course there are exceptions for both - either many updates, but trainer still work or early access titles with more huge user base than triple AAA titles.

To keep the effort for programers low, I could imagine to restrict early access games in their number of options. Most options, even common ones, should then not provided for early access games. Please correct me, if I'm wrong, but the most important options are always the same:

    - God Mode (unl. health) for structures or units
    - Unl. Resources of any kind (mostly money, to buy anything else or ammo) or editor to change the number of resources

This could be a good compromise and would be better than not getting any trainer or updated trainer for early access titles.

    What you guys thinking?

I can see where you are coming from with that suggestion but I think the issue is ultimately still the frequency of updates that is inherent with EA. Even if the trainer only had a single option, the trainer maker might still have to update on a daily basis if the developers updated the game daily or even multiple times a day. Not all options are equal either. Unlimited resources may sound simple enough but it could entail having to search for dozens of them in games that have many types of resources such as anno.

I doubt others will be satisfied with just a few options either. Imagine if Sons of the forest only had god mode and stamina for early access, I think many people will be disappointed.

IMHO, early access games shouldn't even have trainers made for them, at least until they are many months stable or even at all until 1.0 release!

    🙈🙉🙊

I can see how this is unpopular opinion, but I personally don't play early access games and even if I would I wouldn't see the point of cheating in them as they are as they are early access probably unfinishable until full release and limited resources of CH team could be wholly spent on fully released games!

OK, now you can stone me!

We appreciate the sentiment, but the facts are that there's always someone, that wants everything, for whatever THEY happen to be interested in at the moment and believe they should get it because they paid $29.00 some 18 years ago and they deserve it. They are right. We made a promise to bring a LIFETIME of trainers to a LIFETIME of people and we have been doing our best to keep that promise since we opened our doors 22 years ago. The facts are that 95% of games released in this day and age are early access, even many AAA games. So, we have to treat all games equally (until it just gets out of hand with multiple daily patches on a single game) as different people signup for different reasons. All I can really say is that we will continue working ourselves into the ground until we are literally in it. We care about you guys and just want you to feel like you got your money's worth, whether it was yesterday or 18 years ago. Those that go the extra mile and signup for Lifetime PLUS (Link) are greatly appreciated and are mostly what keeps our site going, especially in times like these where every tech company on the planet is laying off 20%+ of their workforce. We have not let a single person go and even gave everyone a bigger bonus this past holiday than years before thanks to the kind donations of our members, and because our whole team works every day to earn it.

Anyways, thanks you guys for trying to help and look out for us by coming up with different ideas on how to deal with a problem that isn't going away.

After thinking about it more, my suggestion would be to limit trainers for early access games to only once a month. If the trainer author is willing to update more frequently, that's good but we should only expect a monthly update. On our part, we should put steam in offline mode to prevent updates to the early access game, at least until the next trainer update in the following month, update the game then put steam back in offline mode again, repeat.

Of course, doing so means we can't install new games on steam or play those multiplayer games that require steamworks but it's no different from how many of us already play in offline mode so as to avoid updates breaking mods until the mod creators update them to be compatible with the new update if needed. If you need to use the steam storefront then use the steam mobile app or through the web browser.

I believe that this one of the very few businesses in the world that lifetime means really a lifetime.
I've been here so long that sometimes I forget how hard these guys been working for more than 20 years and still find the time to please their senior customers along with the new.
    Well done boys.

First of all, thanks for your response, which confirms my general cognition, that in most cases you can't satisfy everyone. I'm happy to recognize, that the few different responses already catch up a lot of point of views which are all legit.

And sorry for my late answer, but my intension was already fullfiled by starting the discussion as some platform for add. ideas how to handle early access titles and to make this ideas transparent for the trainer developers. I always appreciate their hard work since years and I have the utmost respect for their patience to keep motivated to move on beside of all challenges they face.

Another idea could be a survey with the target to have a vote by all users, how to handle early access titles. Of course, the possible votes should be acceptable for the trainer developers to avoid a result that is impossible to achieve (instant update for all current games).

I would guess and htink that these kind of things is what the RC balance is meant to use for. If a game is early access, and you want a trainer for it, and you want to keep it updated, you can use RC points to "make it happen", I would think. It will cost you money in the end if you really really want things to work every time, but that kind of money is well spent to keep everything spinning here, no?
