Aurora will work on Steam Deck when Valve allows it to run on it. They could do it today if they wanted. But nope... good ol Valve.
I've owned two of these things and in my opinion, meh.
I also was on the waiting list for an AYA NEO NEXT, which was just as long, and when I received mine, I sold my Steam Deck the next day on eBay and have never looked back. Not only does it support EVERY game that a PC does (Gamepass, Epic, Steam, GOG, EA Play...) including AURORA which I use on it every day. It has a great overlay interface to manage your various game services, the hardware, etc. It's not just Steam on a Stick where even 50% of their own games don't even work on it (Yes, I tried so I have first hand experience).
Don't judge something by it's waiting list. The waiting list was also huge for the Segway. There was going to be one in every garage and replace bicycles, scooters, etc. Now most people couldn't even tell you what one is. The STEAM LINK was also supposed to be the "next big thing" so we ran out and bought 3 of those as well. Now they serve as expensive coasters for our office. The Steam Deck is not a bad device, just don't get caught up in the hype. Want one that bad? There are TONS on eBay. Want to cheat on it? We built a version of CoSMOS for it which works just as well as a trainer.
That's what I think. But please judge for yourself.

The AYA NEO NEXT looks great, but it's nearly 3 times as expensive as the Steam Deck. so It's out of my price range I'm afraid 😕.
Yea I like it so far my only real complaint is battery life. I'm reserving my judgement as games are being refined by devs and Steam as time goes by. Hows the battery life on the Neo? I looked at that as well.
It's roughly the same, depending on all of the customization settings. There are a lot more settings than the Steam Deck to get either more quality, more performance or ULTRA quality/performance. I'm lovin it so far. The ability to use Aurora is a game changer.

Yes, that is the only drawback, but you are getting a fully functional PC under the hood with a nice CPU/GPU that runs Windows 11 with no problems or game compatibility issues. Not to mention you can sell your Steam Deck on eBay for 2-3X what you paid for it and then you pretty much have the dough to grab the AYA.
