Works fine here, on what kind of enemies are you trying it? The classic dudes which also appear in the first mission? Or other ones? Boss enemies?
What slot mechanic? This seems to be a terrible GTA clone with a weird humor. You just drive from A to B to A to B to either collect coconuts or kill a handful of dudes and in the end you save the game on the toilet, while literally everything needs a loading screen. I've never heard nor played this game before.
FYI: That every kill needs a quick time event is absolutely ridiculous. After 10 minutes it just feels like work (well for me it IS work but you know what I mean....)

I tried at first with an Assassination job, then with a regular mission enemy. Didn't try with bosses because they're fun to fight.
The slot mechanic he's talking about is what comes up when you execute an enemy. A slot machine shows on the screen and if symbols match you get one out of a list of temporary buffs.
