I have been a tester for the slow program which drops changes that have been cleared by the fast track to be released to production, this last KB4571744 and KB4571756 dated sept 3 and 8 respectively have changed something in real-time and the defender scans. They have started reporting the .tmp files that the trainers use as SEVERE threats.
Detected: Trojan:Win32/Conteban.B!ml. Affected Items: File: C:\Users\nichog\Cheathappens\Work\Runtime\~CheathappensTrainer4980.tmp. At first it marks it severe, when you tell it to allow and restore it changes the status to LOW. This has happened with at least 3 different trainers all UPLAY games, I have manually scanned the tmp files with defender after restoring them and it does not come back with this message. I have also sent a SEVERE problem report to Microsoft containing the same information, until then I would suggest that anyone else that experiences this action to disable all defender apps, at that point the trainers work normally. update and workaround. Just finished testing this and is does work, go into the antivirus settings and add the Cheathappens directory under users\yourname\ to the exclusions listing, RESTART the computer.
This stops the Realtime component of the antivirus and app control from searching that directory
