Plus, if memory serves correctly, CH has had a bit of a hard-on against EA/Origin in the past, so I guess it's settled - we buy the game through Steam.

JK! I think the CH/EA hate has subsided. Yes?

Doesn't seem to be a real downside - guess I'll buy from Steam for the simple reason that I open Steam 10x more per week than I open Origin.

10X is being kind for me. More like 100X here.

I like buying them on Steam whenever possible. We have the Steam Community which always has extra info for games like Tools, manuals, maps, mods and a good discussion forum for every game. I also prefer keeping Screenshots there where the bulk of them are anyway. Same goes for achievements.

Like them or not, we get more with our games there. ¯\_(ツ_/¯

Agreed not only that Steam is a great gaming platform it's also a pretty good social networking service much like Facebook and others with focus on gaming and gaming related topics.

That's for sure. Funny thing is we chat all the time on Steam but almost never on FB.

    Also Steam has workshop integration.

I'll get it for Steam eventhough I can get it slightly cheaper for Origin.

I hadn't seen that Eli. EA Access coming to Steam? Interesting. Those sale price numbers look interesting, too.

Hmm. This is weird. I played Dragon Age Inquisition a couple of years ago and I'm almost positive I used a CH trainer. But Origin shows a release date of today, 6-4, on the one in that ad and it's a GOTY version. Plus, CH only shows a trainer for Dragon Age Inquisition-III, not for just DAI. In fact, I don't see a DAI-III on Origin or Steam now. WTF? That's some weirdness, man.

I'll have to check into that mess then look at the others in that ad. Do you have any DAI games, Eli? Hit me up in chat when you have a minute will ya?

    Thanks, man. . 👍

Oooh, that would be nice. I have EA Origin Access or whatever it's called and so integrating it with Steam would be cool.

With this game in particular, I saw if you bought it on Steam it would allow mod support (through the Workshop), so I was bummed that I was going to be playing it through EA because it's "free" (yes, I know, paid for by my sub) through Origin Access. If I can get the best of both worlds ("free" through Access and mods through Steam Workshop) that would be amazing.

I'm really excited for this game. I played the originals back in the 90s and when I tried to go back a few years ago to play the originals on a modern PC the graphics were just awful and I couldn't stick with it. Playing the remastered version will alleviate that and I can relive my youth, lol.

Agreed not only that Steam is a great gaming platform it's also a pretty good social networking service much like Facebook and others with focus on gaming and gaming related topics.

All I'll say when it comes to the Steam vs other game launchers debate is Steam played a huge part in companies deciding to create their own launchers/storefronts. EA is starting to sell its games on Steam once again which should make Steam loyalists a bit happier.

Like many others, I pay a monthly membership on Origin which allows me to play most of their games at no additional cost (even new releases in most cases. As a streamer that helps my budget a lot.

Now that Origin and Ubisoft, in particular, require the use of their launcher regardless of where you buy the game, it's nearly impossible to avoid multiple launchers unless you boycott all games that require Steam users to launch using a separate launcher.

At this point in time, it's more about where you can buy a game for the least amount of money. In many cases buying a Steam key is usually the cheapest. That is of course unless you opt for membership with other companies.
