I had the same problem with the manager update that crashes in loop after downloading and applying its update.
It crashes during restart when it checks for the presence or no update.

It turned out that the update is probably the cause because I found a solution but which involves manual intervention.
It had nothing to do with .NET libraries because I checked and I already have all that requested in x86 and x64 version

    The solution :
    - Check if you have all .NET files already installed (link already posted previously)
    - Download the manager from the site page.
    - Go to the manager's folder and place the zip file there.
    - Delete everything in the trainer's folder (except the zip)
    - Extract the zip into the folder.
    - Relaunch the manager via your usual shortcut (it will point to the new executable)

It will show you the messages like the first time, the options to configure.
But once finished it will work because it will not check for the presence of an update.

I hope that this solution will be sustainable and that later it will not try to update itself in a loop.

To fix the below isssue, after getting the Defender error, you need to go to notifications, then to the notification for the error, then details, then click on allow.

I'm trying to run Need For Speed Heat trainer, I start it, but then Microsoft Defender shows it found a threat and immediately closes the trainer. I already have the folder with the trainer added to Windows Security exclusions.

    Detected: Trojan:Script/Phonzy.C!ml
    Status: Removed
A threat or app was removed from this device.
Details: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker.
