That’s weird nothing like this happened when was updating the trainer yesterday,do you have the latest dlc? I think it has something to do with that.

I don't have the newest DLC. I activated the trainer on the main menu and then started a skirmish match then after activating the options i wanted and then selecting the town hall and then clicked on one of the research options it crashed
Same.
Tested with skimish and game crashes a few minutes in. Not sure what triggered it.
Post an update report as Nook said. Only has 1 so far so won't be looked at yet.
Please use the update notification system to report a game patch, update or to report that the trainer may not be working with the latest version of the game. If 3 or more reports have been filed, consider BOOSTING the priority of this title for a faster turnaround on the updated trainer.
Link here is a video of it crashing when trying to research anything. I haven't tried testing anything else
Thanks for the video Nook,just in case I’ll purchase the DLC as well and evaluate it thoroughly.
