I know I can just use an offline key, but that requires me to know which games I want to play in advance. Not really a serious question, just since using a trainer is so niche, I'm guessing only a tiny handful of people have been on a long flight, plus wanting to cheat, plus actually having the ability to do it.

Not sure if I understand what you're saying but CH's offline key works for/with all trainers here, no matter which one you want to use. One key to rule them all.

Just make sure to use the offline key creator tool (Link) on the very PC you use on your flight and follow the description provided. After that, cut its WiFi or LAN and launch a trainer to verify that the key is actually working.

Good for health, bad for education.

I know that I can follow that process for using them offline, just wondering if anyone, knowing in advance their flight has had wifi, and decided not to bother. I was more after banter, e.g "Yeah I used the trainer on cod ww2 campaign but quickly closed it when I realised the person next to me on my Japan flight was Japanese" (Which happened to me and I felt a bit bad about it)

It's possible as the concept is generally the same as playing a game offline. The only difference is that you will need to prep your computer with what it is you want to play and which trainers you'll be using in advance before your flight.

I wouldn't trust airplane wifi though for performance issues. What you get is completely up to RNG. It depends on who your airline is, what model plane you're on, and what hardware they have installed (this they generally keep hidden from public). I've had performance range from struggling to load fairly basic websites to being able to watch Twitch at a decent resolution. If you do want to try it, prepare for a backup plan (offline mode).
