So the trainer seems to mostly work. I can cheat for health and stamina and such.

But when I try the "Easy Gemstone Unlock" I always get a failed message:

Is anyone else having this issue?

If they are, it's likely that the game patched. Cannot find AOB is typically a tell-tale sign.

Please use the update notification system to report a game patch, update or to report that the trainer may not be working with the latest version of the game. If 3 or more reports have been filed, consider BOOSTING the priority of this title for a faster turnaround on the updated trainer.

So most options in the trainer work, albeit with a small caveat, they always return this dialogue in the debug tab: "Script error in line 0: Too less/many parameters". No matter if you activate or deactivate an option.

Also Easy Gems option both options (Understand only 1 works), when the trainer says I've activated the option, but it doesn't do anything. Nor can I open chests with 0 gems nor can I shop. It doesn't increase current gems to 99, so I hear "activated" but it doesn't do anything.

Looks like the trainer might have an issue, put your findings in an update request so it can be looked into.
