So I was completely surprised that this was a trainer because the online thing but since it is, does anybody know how to turn off multiplayer all together? I know the invite-only setting exists but I've noticed my friends can join without an invite. Is there even a way without unplugging you internet cable?

Aren't there multiplayer option, where you can set your game to private?

... well, you can set it to invite only but not offline.

You could just simply block the game in the firewall on your OS which would completely prevent any invaders in to your game.

Actually, I tried pulling the internet cable and it constantly loads for some reason and plugging it back in and it runs fine, the same thing happens with the firewall. it actually runs smoothly with no issues so I'm curious as to why it does this

just play with steam offline nobody bothers you at least that what I do.

There is no need to even with Multiplayer. You're not killing other players and most people are advanced so they might have already solved the map. I play in Multi and no issues.
