For anyone still struggling with the challenge, there are mods on the steam workshop that duplicate the functionality of this trainer and work with vanilla. I'm not certain I'm allowed to post links to them, as it'd technically be a competing product, but they're not hard to find. One of the ones I found lets me clone units, so I can pretend I'm a Deity level AI by duping my initial settler and warrior. There's also a plethora of guides to the challenge out there.

anybody else having trouble with Trainer Failing? what am I doing wrong?

got this error, tried dx11 / dx12 and same result

Same here, it worked yesterday.

Can't start trainer, get this error on version: 1.0.12.58 (970508)

All addons/extentions are in steam and are enabled ingame, still get this error.
Just installed just no old savegames.
