fatal error every 3 seconds, game is unplayable

This game has some strange quirks with the trainer. After updating the trainer I launched a game and if I tried to use the "set troop option" button. My ships had 7 troops and they were down to 3 so I paused the game. Selected the ship and pressed 9 and selected the ship again. I opened up the detailed view of the ship and it actually LOWERED the troop number from 3 to 0. So I changed the troop number to 6 and tried again and same issue. Then just for fun I started to target the enemy ships and they all also all updated to 0 when using that option.

The game crashes after a few seconds and is now unplayable.
I disabled my antivirus, I have administrator privileges, and can of course alt+tab.
Please fix it

Ran trainer, ran game, loaded campaign, used trainer.. no issues with 'crashing every 3 seconds'

started skirmish with AI, again no issue with 'crashing every 3 seconds'

i have to assume something is wrong with your legitimate steam version of the game, or you are trying to play online

This trainer does not work for me and never has. any time i activate any of the options i get a fatal error and the game hard crashes.

try to verify your game files with steam, and make sure you use the latest trainer. Also be ware that if you use mods it might be possible that the trainer doesn't work anymore.

I am having an issue where the game gets a "Fata Error" when I activate the "unlimited Construction Points" option. The trainer it self activates fine and all the other options that I used seem to work fine. As soon as I go into the ship build menu with "unlimited con points" activated, not only do I not have unlimited points but within 5-10 seconds the game CTD's with a "Fatal Error." I have done everything short of uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I've redownloaded the Trainer, turned off my AV, verified integrity of the game files on Steam, I even started a new campaign to make sure it wasn't just a corrupted save file somehow. Any advice anyone can give would be appreciated. I've seen a few others say they've had similar things happening with the game giving a "Fatal Error". This issue only started for me after the latest patch. Again any help would be welcome and if I have to reinstall the game I will I just wanted to come on and seek help/advice here first. Thanks in advance.

Same issue as others - Fatael error with ship construction and I have noticed that the super hull and super shields doesn't seem to work on escorts anymore.
