For those looking for an upcoming birthday gift idea.... I'd like one of these bad boys:

    Link

J/K of course. I like how it "starts" at $1799 but when you add important stuff like the CPU, memory, etc it jumps to $6K. I wish I had the skillz and patience to build something like this myself. Maybe 10-15 years ago.

go to pcpartpicker.com and you can probably build what you want for half the cost. if you dont know how, im sure you know someone who does. pay them in their favorite food or beverage. were i in your area, i would absolutely *love* to build a machine like that. all i would charge above food and/or beverage, would be gas money.
if you want, sometime tomorrow after i have slept, i can put a build together that you can buy. then all you have to do is put it together.

Yeh, I could put it all together, I've built every pc in my home for the last 20 years, I just don't have the time, energy, patience or motivation to do it any more. That's why I've started looking at the PC boutiques and custom built solutions.

For 20 some odd years I built my own PC, beginning from roughly after my first Tandy PC.

But with my peripheral neuropathy degrading the coordination and feeling in my hands over the years, I have (of late) had to resort to researching and buying all the components for a personal computer and then contracting out to a local computer service company to do the actual installation of my computer with the parts I supply them. Fortunately, the computer company that I work with really treats me well - even to the point of picking up all my hardware and bringing the newly installed computer to my home and hooking it up for me as I am rather hard pressed to do these things - my movement being rather restricted and dictated by the limitations of my power chair.

Newegg especially loves it when I decide to build a new computer...

I wish I could trust someone locally to build my PC to spec. I'm way too OCD for that. And I have no friends. There's that too.

I've always been lucky to have elder brothers to build my PCs for me. I'm fine with software, but hardware... eh, not so much.
