Not sure which option in the trainer it is, but whenever I go into battle and I click on a unit, the unit disappears. It does it for every unit I click on.
See if you can determine which option is causing the issue and report back.

Game updated today with a major patch for Empire units, it could be that that is messing with trainer?

There are currently 15 update request so it would seem so.
I tested a couple of them to make sure they worked just fine. It is the GodMode option that makes the units disappear when clicked on.

Thank you for testing it (not that I doubted you).
Just did it myself also and yes, the god mode does make the unit disappear, although it seems to think it is still on the map if you change it's formation etc, not 100% sure if it fights though.
Everything else (cash, movement, level up, skill points, etc.) all seem to work as per normal.
I'm sure it'll get sorted soon, the guys are really good at updating I find.
