In the past, you could tell steam to not install updates, but they took that away so now updates are forced. :/
As for reverting, I don't think you can anymore. Even if you re-download the game, it'll be the new version.

The trainer isn't working as I suspected.

It's because the game got updated right after it was released by minuscule amount that may changed some addresses or values. Either way, I don't have a problem waiting for an update.

if you are all dying to cheat, you could revert back to the previous version which was before the full game launch.

Go to game properties in library, go to Betas tab, under Select the beta choose: 3.0.77.309 and download the trainer from May. Or you could not do that and experiment with cosmos, which still works

Unfortunately this would mean that only the first act is available, nor the 2 new presets, not the undead races. Saves would also be uncompatible with the release version.

We'll just have to wait patiently for the CH crew to update it again. Hopefully it's not much work, as that would really suck so shortly after getting one out for us.

Just use Cosmos until they release the updated trainer guys.

Health is located on 4 byte (3 values set them all to 999 and lock them), gold/item count on 4 byte, attribute/skill/etc points are just byte (and are sequential values so they are easy to find).

It doesn't let you do that. Been trying to do the same thing myself. Unless it's specifically built into the game, you cannot pick which versions to play while steam is in online mode. There's no way to turn off auto update either. So playing in offline mode is the only way to keep specified version.
