Well I enjoyed playing through the game the first time on the standard difficulty, but I'm glad for the trainer to save me some time on research and stuff this time around. Decided to play through on Legendary Ironman, which probably complicates matters with the trainer. All the trainer options seem to work fine, which is good, but they appear to have made this game hate the trainer lol... anytime I used the stat options in a battle, it crashes the game immediately. Anytime I used the stat options outside of battle (in the Armory) when I cancel out of the Armory and try to save the game (or go back to the Geoscape so that I can start scanning again) it crashes during screen transition. Not sure if this is a resource/memory issue with the trainer and game combination, or the game just doesn't like having its values changed. Besides the crashes (which are more a minor annoyance than anything, as I can save and exit after making changes, then reload the game after the crash and still have whatever stat changes I've made,) the only other issue I've noticed is that the game seems to ignore the Armor that I attain via the trainer. Not sure if this is related to playing in Legendary, playing in Ironman, being too early in the game to get Armor normally (so the game just ignores all Armor until sufficient Research is done) or if the Armor value changed by the trainer is somehow a different value than that given by equipment in the game. Regardless, it still gives the visual representation that my armor has changed, both numerically and the little yellow armor icons beside by health. I'll try to figure out as I attempt to make my way through the game whether the armor works later on or not.
Edit Regarding Armor: Well, I had originally given my soldiers 9 armor each, which was ignored and damage was applied normally. I continued research until I obtained Warden Armor, making my armor 9+1. Now, 1 armor is applied and my units only each show one armor icon next to their health as opposed to the 9 that were there before. I'm now wondering if maybe I just have more armor than the game allows, as the most that any enemy has is 6. I'll check that next.
