I can't seem to find this anywhere...neither the recipe or the item..Anyone have any info on how to get it so can make the oil? cause without the recipe still can't make it with easy crafting I assume.

I dunno if you're still looking but I got a few things like that from Keira Metz.
Also, lots of times I found superior oil in the widows' grotto in the west of the Novigrad map.

It's been awhile since I played now but a Google search also turned up these:

1. Abandoned Tower on Velen, there's 2 loot chests on the balcony, u can glitch/force yourself there, I have always gotten a manuscript from there)
2. Sewers of Novigrad, easily missed some chests when u were there with Triss
3. Crow's Perch - This place is full of hidden loot, not covered in any gameguide, explore (at least 10 chests with very good loot).
4. In the middle of river, on the bottom on White Orchard. Loot chests which have always given me a manuscript.

Zoom in on the map and find places on it that look like ruins, etc, there's always loot there (and manuscripts) and don't bother with ?-mark locations, they give very little.
