I'm thinking I need a new wireless for my pc. Is this right? And if so, what usb pork wireless would you recommend or should I get one I have to install in my pc case?
Could be the USB port is losing power now and again, so as said try another port.
Yes, I have tried different ports. In fact, I have my headphones in the usb port the modem used to be and I haven't had any issues with them. I've swapped it out a few times with different ports but it eventually happens again.
I never thought of trying a new cable. Do you know what kind of cable it takes? I may try purchasing a new cable before purchasing a new modem.
Does it have a bank of RJ45 plugs, and have you tried using that?
Is there a cable coming from the router/modem to the PC directly?
If not then you are wireless, which would mean the only cable being used is the one from the wall socket to your device.
Not sure if you are ADSL or Cable, ADSL would be a digital phone line cable (RJ11) while Cable will be a Coaxial cable.

Ok, this is what I have:
[url]TP-LINK TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter, 300Mbps, Dual 3dBi External Antennas, WPS Button, Support Windows XP/Vista/7/8'>Link
My modem is downstairs so my computer is not plugged directly into it. I have a wireless network with several devices on it. My issue is with the above product. I can get on my home network but it drops internet access periodically. No other device on my network does this. I have to unplug the adapter on my computer and then plug it back in to get internet access.
That's why I'm wondering if I need a new adapter for my computer. And if getting another usb port on is a good idea or not.
When that happens the service will drop until it is stable again.
Contact your ISP and ask about the intermittent drop outs you experience, and that someone told you it may be power levels.
It could be that water has gotten into the cabling to your house, either way they may send out a technician to check it out.
