Personally I think the game is overrated. It's not what it's supposed to be. There are dozen of weakness in the gameplay mechanism. Not only that hacking is only fun while playing a story mission the hacking elements itself are too limited, you need a single hand to count what can be hacked only.
Moreover if one of the civilians calls the cops it doesn't matter how stealth you move away, as soon as the call has been finished the police starts searching for you exactly where you currently are, pretty annoying.
It's a triple A title so it makes fun but from all the hype I've expected more. From the system requirements I've expected a smoother gameplay and a better graphic. The story is also not very interested. A man's daughter died, he is on revenge and so on.
THIS! Glad someone feel that way. Way too much hype for something that, well, at least if you are into tech and stuff, should not surprise you. Also a huge portion of the game seems to have events that trigger certain things. You have no choice in making alternate choice to get away from those. (Yup watching the walkthrough on multiple youtubers' channels).
As for story...it's nothing new. Most story writers in games tend to not pay serious attention; because now a days it's all about going gun ho on everything. Gameplay takes precedence over story. Not that there aren't good story based games out there, but most of them tend to not have them. Serious, mature, well thought out stories are hard to find.
Overrated? You bet. But that's what marketing does. Brainwashing to buy a game. Gladly it's on steam. So will wait for a nice chunky price drop before picking this one up.
So far I am liking it a lot. So versatile in the way you can do things multiple ways.
One thing that bothered me was the sound.... even up full it was very very quiet. Had to boost the volume in Windows a lot more than normal to get to hear it.
+1 about the sound, Wolfenstein suffers from low sound too..
