So the game is now officially VAC protected.

How will that affect using the trainer?

Will we need to make sure our game is offline when playing?

Will any cheats like infinite health and such result in a ban (when not dealing with invasions)?

Will item hacks be detected (using the unlimited item use hack for example)?

Just don't use it while connected with the public. Make your game private.
Oh and Don't forget some tuts on ASM and defeating DMA

Well, there is no real public/private option for Dark Souls.
    You're either online or not.

I suppose I could just stick to offline mode. The thing is, I love seeing all the messages, and bloodstains, and all of that. I just don't care about PvP.

Yeah, with DS2 you can be invaded at any time.

And then there's things like the Bell tower and Ratking stuff, which is auto-PvP for people simply going through the zones.
