I hope someone can correct me, but the trainer seems to 99% of the time cause the game to get bugged and become unplayable very quickly. At an early point (guard dog tutorial) most people seem to be having issues without the trainer, but the trainer seems to make sure it breaks...

It's actually a bug in the game, it had nothing to do with the trainer. They have a work around on the ubisoft forums for it but it's a pain to do. I know they were trying to patch it, don't know if they ever did.
