I bet there will be an equivalent of Willowtree at some point.
If you never used it, Willowtree was a development tool for Borderlands 1 that let you actually create your own items! It was VERY cool. Making the best guns and shields was a lot of fun.
ALSO, if you want legendary items, there is supposed to be a "raid boss" somewhere at the end of the game that you could use the CH trainer to "farm" - exactly like Crawmerax.
I wish I could tell you where to find it, but I'm only at level 14 so far. But I read an interview with the devs that said the boss exists, he's huge, he's hard to kill, and he drops the BEST loot in the game.
Find him, switch on the trainer, and start farming!

is there a way to increase drop rates for legendary item then, or any way around just giving them to us?

Open the rare chest spawn in sanctuary, it spits out the best weaps in game for your level range....There seems to be a 3 or 4 level cycle in which the weapons suddenly get more powerful every few levels.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I was using the chest option in the trainer, just legendary weapons are nice. Hopefully that willow thing comes out. I beat the first game and never went back but I think i do remember something about that willow thing.
If I can find that raid boss I'll fight him.
