I haven't been able to get my controller to work for Dark Souls, I have a wireless 360 controller that works for all my other games that support controller, along with a logitech controller, neither of which the game seems to recognize but I can still press the guide button in game to bring up GFWL.
I've tried disabling drivers, unplugging my mouse/keyboard reinstalling drivers for my controller, and none of them seem to work. Does anyone have a solution?

Do you switch on the controller BEFORE you start the game? It works just fine for me. Playing with mouse and keys is a real pain in the eye.

i haven't had any problems with it, works perfectly, as said before, make sure the controller is connected before starting the game.
Also, i use a wired x360 controller (a razer controller), on the steam version, i can confirm it works on that.
The tips in the beginning of the game are also for the controller in my game.

Yes I've made sure that the controller is on before I start the game. I've already looked at the steam forum and followed what they said except for trying the third party application that emulates a 360 controller's input.
I'm just hoping that they release a patch now. Until then I will just play gw2.

Try this: remove controller and microsoft receiver manually (devices and drivers)
reinstall with latest drivers, make sure your 360 is unplugged btw.
RESET controller and receiver (small round buttons)
RESET all options in DS
start controller, make sure it's working with status checker
start DS
good luck
I forgot to reset controller and receiver and reinstalled several times until I realized it.
oh... and remove ALL third party apps for controller.

ensure you do not have a joystick etc. connected. I had a usb joystick connected and my 360 controller would not work until i had disconnected the joystick
