Elder Scrolls Online announced! An MMO set in the world of Skyrim
Elder Scrolls Online has just been announced, to the pretend shock of people who definitely didn’t already know that was happening. It’s being made by Zenimax Online Studios, the studio founded by Bethesda’s parent company to develop massively multiplayer games. There have been a lot of rumours that Elder Scrolls Online was going to be their first game, but this is the first time we’ve heard anything concrete.
This will also be the first time the Elder Scrolls universe has been the setting for anything other than a singleplayer game. We know very little about it so far, though Game Informer have started to trickle out the details. So far they’ve revealed that it’s “set a millennium before the events of Skyrim as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.” The game will also include vast PvP conflicts between three factions, in which players will fight for the Emperor’s throne, as well as “solo questing” and “public dungeons”.
Most exciting: the first teaser trailer is due to hit tomorrow morning. Read on for a bit more mad speculation.
That still leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Will there be long queues to enter instanced oblivion gates? Will there be a crafting system that relies on every player stuffing hundreds of lettuces and calipers in their pockets? There’s bound to be more information in the coming weeks as everyone prepares for E3. And for now, we can stare at the image we made above and let our imaginations run wild.
If you’re one of the many who aren’t yet done venturing through Skyrim though, try out our best Skyrim mods story.
Are you excited at the chance to play a Skyrim-style game with your friends, or would you rather venture through Bethesda’s worlds on your own?
Well I have to say I am annoyed at this. Even tho it would have happened. Like my good friend Skyheart told me over Steam chat. I have to say in a way am glad beth is not making it. So am hoping by that they will still do single player TES games as I would rather as the author of that article said. Are you excited at the chance to play a Skyrim-style game with your friends, or would you rather venture through Bethesda’s worlds on your own?
I would rather go through it myself. In a single player environment than a multi player.

This news makes me jump for joy. The one thing i always felt the Elder scrolls games lacked was co-op.
This is the beginning of the end once they think you want co-op or multiplayer included in this version they will make it a fixture of future releases untill low and behold online only woop woop
Good as people do want it. Its a great idea. I see NO reason not to add it. If you dont want Co-Op play SP

I do not know who you have been talking to. Since many people who I know who have played TES right from the start or even from Morrowind played it for the fact it was solely concentrated on single player only. Everything was put into that. It was the one true Single player RPG that was and is Epic cause it did not have any other feature to take away from it.
When you add these features into a game that is solely single player you are taking away from that. Not all concentration is on the SP which it should be in this game as it HAS! been. As I have to say many games in my books have been ruined by MP. There is a large amount of people out there that enjoy just the single player games. This was at and is at the number one spot in my books. Pure single player!
Now if I hope they do what I am thinking is. Have a separate online game from the actual single player game side then. I and many others will be happy. But this announcement dose not make me happy one bit.
Why? One when WOW came out was there anymore single player Warcraft games out after that? Nope! Many people stopped right at the point when WOW MMO came out and walked away. I fear that ME is going to become MEU MMO which will no doubt kill the single player side of that game and just become an MMO. So with this I fear it will kill the single player side and just be another MMO. Which many do not want!
I am at the point where I am fed up with MMO's good games I have loved in my books as I have said have been Ruined. Now do not tell me give the MMO a chance. NO! Why? I DO NOT WANT TO PLAY WITH OTHERS!!! I want that single player experience that has captured me over the years as it has always done. I do not care if some one go's you can still do single player on an MMO. Nope its not a true single player.
So use true single player followers can only hope this is a side game from the single player side and hope they continue the great single player game we have enjoyed with NO CO OP or MP in the game at all.
I do wish Zenimax Online Studios, all the best in this adventure and hope they do not up the TES series with a crappy MMO. I say they should spend minimum 4 years making the MMO and get it right!
So I did a little more digging. About this and found this.
Setting
As with other games in The Elder Scrolls franchise, the game will be set in the fictional world of Tamriel and feature a storyline not connected with the other games. The game will be set a millennium before the events of the previous game in the series, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and will involve the Daedric prince Molag Bal as he attempts to conquer Tamriel.
The entire continent of Tamriel will be playable in the game, and players will have the opportunity to join any of the three factions warring over the throne of Emperor of Tamriel. The three factions are represented by a lion, a dragon and a bird of prey.
Development
The Elder Scrolls Online has been in development for several years prior to its announcement in May 2012. It is the first project for ZeniMax Online Studios, which was formed in 2007. Matt Firor, studio lead at Zenimax Online is also the director of The Elder Scrolls Online.
While rumors of a massively multiplayer Elder Scrolls game existed for years, accurate information about the game and its imminent May 2012 announcement was leaked in March 2012 to online publication Tom's Guide by an anonymous industry source. According to the leak, the game is scheduled to be shown at E3 2012 in June and Quakecon 2012 in August.
The Elder Scrolls Online is an upcoming massively multiplayer role playing video game developed by ZeniMax Online Studios, to be released in 2013.
OK firstly what the is it with those stupid clan names? I feel star-trek from them. *Shudders* Also that its coming out in 2013 and that its ZeniMax's first ever project. OK Now if they where working on this MMO since 2007 when the company was founded. I will truly hope they do not up the game series since they will have had 5 years working on it!
So like I said. I hope this is a side game and they keep the Co op and MP features out of the hope to be more TES single player games and still put in the same amount of work they have been with the other Epic's they have produced.
