I don't think GOTY as far as for the RPG genre, but there isn't much other competition for it. Mass Effect 2 should blow it out of the water to get GOTY to be honest, since they both operate as action RPGs. I wouldn't hold Vegas in the same breath as Fallout 3 which was a classic RPG. Vegas, IMO, is a mess of a game from storyline through quest-line, with worse characters looks than what was already weak character looks in Fallout 3.
At least the character factions in Fallout 3 were more plausible.
LOL what? Enclave being a dominant faction after getting nuked in FO2? Brotherhood of steel being a righteous force of justice when all they've ever been is tech-mongers? Super mutants that dip people in FEV vats "just cause?" Vampires?
The NCR has always been a faction in Fallout. (granted, they were just a small village in the first game) The Followers were in the first game, opposing the main villain, Caesar was supposed to be in the canceled sequel... I think, lore-wise, the factions in New Vegas make far more sense than the cliche canon defying black and white factions of Fallout 3.

When did I say anything about the NCR not being a faction in Fallout? You went completely off on what I stated when regarding the factions in Vegas and Fallout 3. I didn't state any absence of them or relevance to earlier Fallouts from long ago. I only stated they (the factions) were more plausible in Fallout 3 (BOS, Outcast, Enclave. Raiders, etc). In Vegas, it got out of hand because you could join up with Romanesque Legions, Robots, or the NCR. Seriously, is that more plausible considering the story from all releases of the game.
I can see the NCR being plausible. You can't count Caesar just because he was left out because Black Isle Studios went under, and that is irrelevant to what I stated anyway. Bottom line is, he wasn't part of the story until now, which I think that faction is pretty silly. If it appeals to you, that's fine. But this game doesn't hold a candle to Fallout 3 in quality or playing through the main quest with continuity.
@ tommy6860 Why dose it sound like you dont like the choice? Cause thats what that sounds like to me.

It doesn't matter about choices. I think the game is crap compared to Fallout 3, it doesn't come close. Too bad they couldn't be a little more original in the concept of Vegas. Hell, they even recycled the music and perks from Fallout 3.
If you like the game, that's fine, you are entitled to like it, just as I am entitled to dislike it. After starting a second play-through, I couldn't stomach it, it has since been sold and I got most of my money back.
