So how bout dem bugs.
Going into GECK, was able to figure out why Veronica didn't level with the player (hopefully noticed this bug!). They forgot to set the "PC Level Mult" flag for Veronica which allows the NPC's level to be determined by the PC's level.
Also digging in GECK, I figured out why the Food Sanitizer was worthless in New Vegas.
Get this... almost every food item in the game isn't classified as food. It's classified as... a big gun. What the hell?
The "PC Mult" setting is for a custom NPC, not the standard set-up. If you look at the min/max level set, you'd see Veronica is (by default) a Level 12 character, with her min being 5 and max being 20.
Also, there are only 5 food items listed as "Big Guns", and they are carry over items from Fallout 3. If you look at the effects of those items listed incorrectly, they still give health/radiation effects.

Every other companion has PC Mult tagged and a variety of NPCs also has it tagged. It's not a specialized custom NPC option. It's the game engine's methodology to scale the game as you level, otherwise, every mob would have a static level and every spawned NPC would have to have stats manually input. Have you even looked? lol.
Except the lightweight sanitizer mod author found otherwise. You could test the sanitizer yourself. So either the sanitizer is implemented with a broken script or food items are implemented with flawed categories. Your choice.
New patch new bugs.
Since companions rendered stealth useless anyway, let's break it completely and have NPCs detect you through walls and closed doors. Problem solved.
Doesn't that just make the game more realistic? If you were walking around outside my door I would be able to hear you.
