I am hopefully not the only one with this issue. No matter what version of the trainer I attempt to use it crashes or the game crashes.. I have the Steam version of Dead Rising 2 and Windows 8 pro 64bit. Can anyone help me figure this out? I've run the trainers as administrator, I've run the game with out the steam overlay. Everytime I try the thing just crashes..

I think I understand the problem. The steam version is version 1.06.2011. If you use the windows 8 compatible trainer, then you have to use the 07.04.2011 trainer. The trainer for 1.06.2011 is not windows 8 compatible. Unfortunately, I think Caliber said somewhere in this thread that he can't make the 1.06.2011 trainer windows 8 compatible because he can't roll back to the 06 patch. So the only trainer windows 8 compatible is not the version steam uses. I don't know why they rolled back.

All I can suggest is that you find the patch for 07.04.2011 and update the game manually. I'm not even sure if that would work.

Hope some of this made sense and good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I've been hunting down the 07.04.2011 patch for a while now and haven't had any luck finding it.

That version is not IE10/Win8 compatible. Update to latest game version and use the Win8 compatible trainer. No other trainers will be updated.

So just got the Dead Rising 2 bundle off Steam the other day.
Went into the game, it gave me an update through Windows LIVE.

Tried using the DEAD RISING 2 ULTIMATE TRAINER (RET+DIG 07.04.2011) trainer.

As soon as I try to start a new game the program crashes.
Am I doing something wrong? How can I make sure what my game version is?

    EDIT:

Okay I got the older trainer working. However the cheat for durable weapons doesn't seem to work. I hit the button but don't get a response from the trainer.

For what it's worth this is the crash that happens with latest trainer and latest game version. This was obtained using retail disc and is same on steam version (as it is essentially retail disc version).

Why it was reverted makes zero sense to be me but if previous one can no longer be updated couldn't it be at least be made non exclusive since thats the check that causes the crash on win8/ie10?
