Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2 Message Board  

If I may so the game isnot the only thing that sucks. STEAM also sucks big time. I changed internet providers and now cannot even get the game to reload because they tell me it is a duplicate registration or something like that. I wish THQ or whoever would kick Steam's behind out of their business and go back to the old way. I'll say it again. Steam sucks royally and the game is a waste.

I think the game is great. Ok some bits could be better and the fact you cant build bases in the the campain is annoying but I love it and the other DOW's to.

For a question on steam. It sounds like you are reging your game on another account. Dont matter if you changed your internet provider at all.

Well for the people that thinks this game sucks for whatever reason... Think again a little harder. Big Hits Franchises like Warhammer 40k, Especially since the fist title Dawn of War was a sucess tends to frustate some of it's players when a new version is launched(I'm taking Blizzard aside here cause Their series are an execption).
Think about all the games you have played that belongs to a series. The First Empire Earth (for the ones that know) Was a big Sucess, game of the year blah blah blah.. The two other ones sucked a lot. And that happened with a lot of games.
It's because you take the base game in mind and think the developers will just improve it in some way and make nicer graphics, But that's not what they do when they launch a new game, they do that with an expansion...
Dawn of War 2 is a completly different game than Dawn of War 1, wich was a pretty good game by itself and just got more interesting with all the xpacks, It's not based on the engine of DoW 1, but imo on Company of Heroes (a Big sucess of THQ and Relic) engine, they focused more on strategy than just brute rawpower or rush strikes. You have to micro a lot to not take a blow.
I like the game a lot particulary (as i Like DoW 1 and Company of Heroes) and I love this play style, I don't know if that's because I'm a Huge DoTA Fan (warcraft 3, starcraft, Famous Scenario) and I pay attention a lot to my units, and that's what they focused when they created this strategy game.
So I just ask that before you say the game sucks think, where you are getting your comparision for saying the game does, Because if it's compared to DoW it's BS! they are completly Different games, even though they belong to the same universe.

It's because your taste is designed by wich game you played before. If you played WoW for the matters, you are not going to play a lot of MMORPGS ever again and say they are good. ^^

Sorry, I have continued to play the game and still feel it sucks. It has nothing to do with the graphics (which are fine) or the sound (which is also fine) but the way combat unfolds. I find it monotonous, many people agree, some don't. I have no issue with the style, I like the concept very much actually. However, I am not a fan of the way it was executed, regardless of what other games I have played in the past. This one will go in the bin, for good.

To each their own.

Honestly I find the combat to be dynamic and quite enjoyable. Nothing like having Tarkus and Avitus in Terminator armor standing next to Thule giving suppressing fire while my commander assault jumps into the middle of a group of orcs with a 2 handed hammer and then jumps out just before an orbital strike or artillery barrage annihilates whatever is left over (1 scenario of many). Good fun

Still... if you think it sucks just stop playing it. No reason to start a thread about how you think the game sucks when a majority of the people who find this thread probably don't think the game sucks.

EDIT: Oh yeah... STEAM is awesome. If you think it sucks then you are retarded. I have had no troubles with STEAM, ever. It is seriously one of the easiest programs to use.

I posted this thread to get some feedback thinking it was possible that it was just me. Like I said before, many people like this game, many do not. I have had some fun moments too, like using my scout squad to blow up an occupied building while cloaked and having Tarkus clean up the remainder.

As far as Steam goes, I am not sure what that guy's problem is. I personally think Steam is the best program I have on my PC and has hooked me into many games. Now if you want to talk problems we can talk about Direct2Drive.

Warhammer 40k is about gigantic planetary battles with thousands of troops on each side.

It is NOT about 8 marines, a few terminators and three scouts

Not for the space marines, theres what? 100 marines to a chapter?

Thats a major battle, with a few chapters atleast, on dawn of war 2, its just the blood ravens, and you have to make do with what you've got, since the other marines are probably needed elsewhere.
