When you don't pack it in some kind of cupboard without air circulation you shouldn't have any problems. The newer Jasper revision have rarely this problem.
I have no idea what people are doing, that they get it all 1-2 months. Maybe they have it standing in the sun and play 24/7.
My elite from october 09 don't have any problems.
The problems were bigger on older consoles, but they are gone for the most now, till the GPU/CPU are produced in 65nm. The new XBOX "slim" shouldn't have the problems, because it have better cooling system and uses 45nm. I don't think that you can get old revisions which were afflicted by RRoD.
You've got an equal chance of getting the RROD with an Elite and a regular 360. There's practically no difference in hardware between the two, excluding the hard drive.
Well most of the RRoD are considered a problem with the regular 360's because of the rush-job manufacturing was only done on the regular 360's, not on Elite's.
So mainly it is a problem with the regular 360, but only with the first models really. Otherwise the user is doing something to cause it to RRoD
Also the RRoD was just problem of soldering joints. They detached after to much heat. There was also enough just to solder it again. Problem was the solder, which had to be plumb free. Many manufacturers have/had similar problems, but there it wasn't big problem, because the components didn't got that hot.
I've had an elite for years. I've gotten the trod twice, but the first time I was keeping it right beside my tv, and the second I was playing guitar hero during a thunderstorm and the power went out and it got fried.
and don't worry about "taking a break" because the elite was built with a different cooling system than the original 360's. I've had mine on for three days straight before and boning happened. it was barely warm by the end of it.
I currently have a 360 that I bought with a RROD for 20$ and fixed it myself for 5 bucks. So 25$ for a 360 is awesome, now I can sell it for 5 times the price .
If you ever need to fix it pm me and I will try to help you.
