I'm a disabled Vietnam Vet who suffers from (among many other ailments) peripheral neuropathy - which means I have little or no control over my hands, much less feeling or any sort of coordination in them.

Additionally, with my loss of any keen "hand and eye" coordination which was putting me to a point I almost stopped PC gaming entirely (I gave up on any console gaming long ago) because my reactions and coordination were wiping me out early in almost any gaming situation.

Fortunately before I gave up on PC gaming forever, I found CH. After subscribing for some little time, I took advantage of a CH special and became what I am today - a Lifetime member.

And so, in conclusion, my hat is off to PW, Cal, and all the other wonder makers here at CH - if it weren't for you all, my life wouldn't be half as enjoyable as it is when I game with your help.

    Thank you!!

I actually prefer to play a game without a cheat if I can. If I really love the title I'll put the time and patience into beating it but such games are rare for me. The Mass Effect series is an example of a title I won't cheat plus I'll re-play it. But most others, meh, I don't have the patience to put up with repeating segments so I use the cheat.

A cheat also means I'll get my money's worth -- I've quit games in the past because they were just too time-consuming and not fun enough; with a cheat I'd have finished them.

Because RTS games are a lot more fun with trainers.

I won't lie. I am absolutely horrible at video games. But, sadly, they are one of the few avenues of entertainment left to me.

Due to an injury to my spine/nerves, I'm not the most graceful klutz behind a keyboard anymore. In a day and age where twitch reflexes and muscle memory reign supreme, I barely rate court jester. CH trainers level the playing field in my favor, making many games that would be beyond my ability fun and accessible once more.

Not to be a kiss-ass, but I am always grateful for the work the CH put into each trainer.
Kill a thousand men and they will hate you. Kill a million men and they will queue to face you. But kill a single man and they will see monsters and devils in every shadow.

Continuing a tradition that, for me, goes back to the Game Genie. I'm old enough now to realize that most of the time I am sort of homogenizing games to a point that I most enjoy them - for me, that tends to mean not having to worry about crap like how much ammo I have, or other fiddly junk like that.

Personally, I try not to mess with the basic game mechanics too much. But some things are less a test of skill and more a trial of patience when dealing with annoying stuff that for some reason we haven't really got over, from a game design perspective.

Gripe about it, but regenerating health was a huge game design improvement over previous systems, except in cases where the game designers were meticulous in planning events. Thus, the games lent themselves to a sort of total control over the experience... pretty linear games, usually, though one improved mechanic for most FPS games in no way undoes poor game design or lazy writing, so we've got plenty of linear cover-based shooters still.

If something is just a hold-over, a mediocre mechanic that impedes the progress of the player without contributing meaningfully to the fun, I'll bypass it in a second if I can! I don't cheat in multiplayer, because that's just super friggin' lame, but I have no problem messing with memory to rectify decisions that don't agree with me.

So a combination of a few options, I guess. Because it's a better experience sometimes, because it's more fun, and because it's possible. So long as it doesn't have some unintended consequence in multiplayer.

It's a hard sell between sucking and being fun as f***. I in the end had to go for suck as lately I tend to grab trainers when I just can't get past a point like a racing scene in a action game as I just want to get back to the fun.
