The new X-Com game looks nifty. They're turning it into a non-linear strategy/fps set in the 1950s. Expect craptons of campy stuff happening and aliens and FBI agents blowing the **** out of picturesque Leave It To Beaver settings.
Now, the bad news...
You guys remember Deus Ex, yes. Every year PC Gamer does the 100 best games of all time and Deus Ex is always in the top three.
Well, "they" are trying again at making a sequel.
Their last try was an utter failure.
This time... well...
It's an RPG, yet as the developers are saying "We want to remove the RPG aspect of the fighting and make it more straightforward...so if you're good at shooting, the game will not tell you you're not good at shooting because your stats are low".
You know, the great thing about Deus Ex was that you could take any approach you wanted. And usually the "spray-and-pray" approach didn't work.
But it appears as if "they" want to turn one of the greatest games of all time into a spray-and-pray game like Call of Duty.
****, over.
And, the news gets worse.
Out of the 130 member team working on the game... NONE worked on the original.
Hooray for murdering a classic!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'

u're talking about Deus Ex Evolution due for release sometime around Sept.2010 right?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Defender of the Gaming World"
"Do you know the difference between education and experience? Education is when you read the fine print; experience is what you get when you don't"
"Yesterday is History, Tomorrow's a Mystery, Today's a Gift which is y it's called the Present"
It's referred to as both Deus Ex 3 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution by the devs as if they haven't decided on a name yet.

yea...that's the one i've been looking forward to. played the previous Deus Ex's...wasn't great but wasn't bad either and i saw a promo trailer for this game..well..looked very polished and all that. previous ones had a stealth aspect to them which made them challenging and which was the reason i played them. i'm hoping they haven't done away with it this time around.

The first one is widely considered to be one of the greatest games of all time.

yes i do remember the very first one and i also clearly remember how challenging it was. i did enjoy it to be honest...but my very first impression of the game wasn't one of love-at-first-sight..kinda grew on me over time. hoping the latest installment won't disappoint. what did u think about Invisible War?

I try not to think about Invisible War. I thought it was too short and "consolized".
