i agree i think mudkip is a good pokemon to have in your party

Get a Mudkip, most gym trainers have a weakness to mudkip or are unaffective (also, he eventually evolves into Swampert, a Ground/Water, meaning he's only weakness is grass)

It is way too easy with mudkip, treeko is ok, if you want a challenge, but torchic is a no-go, fire < stone (also known as, stone vs fire, fire gets pwn3d)

Brawly- Fighting type
Wattson- Electricity
Flannery- Fire type
Norman a.k.a dad- Normal
Winona-Flying types
Tate&Liza- unknown (phycic)
Wallace- maybe Water type (is water type, but sometimes has a few ice moves)

Tate and Liza have rock/psychic pokemon, one of them knows fire moves though, so a water pokemon is handy for them.

Start with Mudkip and then catch a pokemon that can defeat grass pokemon (but first you got to defeat that damn rival, which means May *shudder*).
