The state of the gaming industry is somewhat ironic IMO. AAA companies have no innovation/creativity and indies are supposed to be the solution to the problem, at least that's what gamers are hoping. Yet, we now have a situation where there is a large number of indies doing the same types of games as AAA, but with even less budget and qc.
I'm somewhat convinced that it's all just a cashgrab scheme to capitalize on the burgeoning demand for such games, without any actual plan or even skills to bring it to fruition. Case in point, Starforge, one of the first few greenlit games that garnered a lot of hype. I remembered a lot of folks were coping hard for years - "Yeah, game is **** now but there's a lot of POTENTIAL!". "Potential" is overused to cover up a lot of such games.
you can forget the "surprise Mechanics" (loot boxes) battle passes or other stuff that should've been released when the game was released in single player games
