It is with great sorrow that I must announce that one of our most beloved members has passed away peacefully on the morning of July 1, 2022. He even logged onto CH the morning before he passed.

He went by the name "Jaks" (Link) and if you are any kind of CH regular then you know the name.

I would like to open this thread to share any condolences and especially any great memories you have of him. He deserves that. His username/avatar will be retired and added to a special "MEMORIALS" section being added to CH soon.

I will kick things off. Jaks was a fantastic friend to me. We would PM each other probably once a week or more. He was ALWAYS the most uplifting person in the room. A MUCH bigger man than I will ever be. Whenever I would make a negative or reactive post on the boards, he would always PM me and ask me to calm down and re-think that post as it could hurt the reputation of the site, which he loved since he joined in 2008. As always, he was right and I had overreacted and ended up changing my post or just deleting it. He helped out around the site however he could and was always the first to raise his hand when we needed volunteers. Every year he would wager me to some sporting event for like $10, even if neither one of us knew anything about the sport. Of course he almost always beat me. I'm going to miss his constant putting me in my place and his happy demeanor. I regret not telling him the positive impact he made on me and this website and my life in general.

Rest in peace, Jaks. I loved you man.

Never had any talks with you, but i saw all your post and how you helped around everyone on the site. I know you will be missed.

A great Mentor, a great Advisor, but most of all, an amazing friend.
Since the day i started working here you had always offered your advice, tips and most important your life knowledge. We talked pretty much on a daily base on Steam and always had a laugh or planned things out, or just talked about games or other random things.

Lately you have been fighting such an intense fight with Cancer, the fight you fought so hard, but sadly lost. The moment i got the message yesterday from your Nephew my heart stopped for a minute and i couldn't believe you were gone.

Now you are in a great place, you deserve the best place they can offer you up there.
You no longer have pain, no longer have to fight, and you can rest in peace, which you deserve.

I will always remember you, Rest in peace, Mentor and Friend.

Oh this is such sad news! Jaks you will be missed but never forgotten.

Rest in peace, friend. I've only ever chatted with you once, but you were a stand-up guy, and you left this earth too soon... 😔

As a happy customer of CH, hearing such news saddens me a lot. My closeness to family and friends.

I didn't know Jaks, but I do send my condolences to his family and friends during this time of loss.
