If you use any of the Webroot suite of security products we have seen a lot of people having trouble with our newest trainers showing the customized for screen then just closing out. The only fix so far we have found is a complete uninstall of Webroot. They must have changed something in a recent update as the problem occurs even if you have every module disabled. I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention if you have this issue. It only seems to happen on "some" trainers and not all or others. We haven't found any kind of pattern to it. If I were you I would submit the trainer file that will not run to them and let them know that it won't run despite disabling all security modules and only a full uninstall will allow it to work. Maybe they will fix it so you don't have to get a new security suite.

Reporting the false positives is a good way to get the Dev's attention. Click the link for instructions on how to submit a report to Webroot.

I have done several tech support sessions with them on this and it baffles them as well. We did manage for a short time to stop the issue but it is already back.

Props to you for at least trying to work with them on the issue. Odd that they can't seem to control what their own software is doing though.

Yeah the big problem is that it doesn't generate any report log. It just closes them.

    Update:

I just got off of a support session with the same tech as last time. So the fix we did last time was disabling a driver for one of the web extensions. That worked until the lastest update which was in august which introduced the foreign shield code or something like that. The issue is in that system and unfortunately there is no way to just turn it off. The tech guy took a dmp file to show the development team what is going on and he has left my ticket open to keep me in the loop.

We did come up with two options they are not ideal but they work.
Option 1 Boot into safe mode then play. This turns off the section that is causing the issue.
Option 2 Shutdown webroot then play. Obviously not ideal unless you disconnect from the internet.

Will keep updating as I get info.

    New Update

Had another session at webroots request. We may have found a fix the trainer we were using as our test was generation zero. As of right now it has been running without crashing.

To try this out and see if it works do the following.

Open Webroot. Go to advanced settings. Click the shields tab. Then uncheck Prevent interruption. Should be the first check box.

Hey Fam, sorry to necro an older thread but did you try whitelisting the file or your entire trainer folder if you are using the Trainer Manager?

Once I whitelisted my folder everything works fine and no issues in the past few months.

    Hope that helps
