Soon you have to buy a game to install it, then pay for every mission, pay extra for special equipment, pay even more for a different difficulty etc.... 😵

And that's why I'm happy indie games got popular - at least we have an alternative (despite the fact that so many games are total crap or asset flips).

Also that's why it's important not to pre-order. If people would wake up, ceased preordering and buying titles that include such abuse and thus started hurting all these big companies' bottom lines - then maybe someone up there would wake up and change stuff up.

Seriously, we're living in age when "no lootboxes" became a bullet point on the back of the packaging... And I still remember clearly when Bethesda started DLC crap with horse armor.

See, I never thought I'd see the day where retro gaming became trendy because everyone has the have the latest and greatest. But now, this? This makes me want to stay away from all game developers in the modern era. In their attempts to force ethical behavior on the rest of us, they're becoming unethical. Yeah, I can see why cheating in multiplayer is bad, but single player has always been the realm of the person in question. They want to cheat, fine, let them. The developers have their money, so it doesn't really matter if they've got sentimental attachment to what they've made. The player decides, not the developer, how the game is played.

Frankly I'm not pleased and I won't be drawn in by the hype. It doesn't matter how the game looks or what it sounds like, the fact is I don't appreciate unsolicited kernel shenanigans. I also don't appreciate being begged for more money, which is what this is turning into ever since pay-to-win Facebook games and such are developed. Oh, did I say pay to win? What I actually meant is pay-to-play at all, because you can't play them unless you're willing to shell out $120 a month just to keep things going.

That's what Western gaming is becoming. That and SJW, because apparently we all need to be more loving and tolerant or something. Let us play some damn games already! Jesus. This is how we unwind, we don't need this. We're doing this to GET AWAY from you!

It is very frustrating. Here many of us are and have paid the price the devs have set on the game, and it should be the end of it. But no they have to tell us how to play our games aswell. If i want to use a trainer when i play my game i should have the freedom to do so. I see the need for anti cheat programs in multi player games off course.

Yep and we continue to pay them for their extra game stuff because we love the game. Yep I pretty much buy all the stuff I can get for the games I have that does not link to MP. So I will most likely by all the DLC. So they are getting a shed tone of dosh from users like me. Now with the micro transactions stuff I have seen is pointless stuff in my view but the makers know people will pay for it. Similar to the browser games I played back in the day. I bought their extra micro stuff as it helped more. I understand the same point protecting the MP side but thats where it should stop. They should not be forcing the SP side to have to be OATT or even connect to the OLB. Which I find is pointless as I generally do not care about what the rest of the world has done on that level etc. Its going to get to that point where their sales will drop. But hay what can we actually do to make them stop. Cause not buying is not going to make them stop as they know people will pay. We are that neech that is going to be screwed.

All these modern anti software seem invasive. Should I avoid games using these software?

Coming back to PC gaming after 8 years so I'm getting acquainted with all the new tech.

I've read that the team who made SecuROM are also the ones who made Denuvo. Is this right? I remember there being a rootkit issue during SecuROM days.
