I think the first time I ever cheated, or even knew there were cheats, was Blood 2.
The part at the Library, where it always crashes.
I tried looking to get someone elses save game to get past it, and a buddy said 'just use a trainer'. I said 'what is a trainer?', and he told me.
And, the trainer allowed me to get past the Library crash because I went faster through it or something?
Anyway, I didnt have to use someone elses save game.
After that, I started using no-cd cracks, because I got sic of taking a cd out and putting another one in. I play game 1, then game 2, then game 3, then game 4, then game 5, then maybe back to 1 2 3 or 4 again, then quit. So, it was a LOT of cd swapping to do. Back then anyway. 90's on up.
I usually only get a cheat now if its a hard game, harder than I expected it to be, and I die every 2 minutes, or if the game does not have a difficulty setting, I HATE when devs do that, lazy *guys*, or if I cant finish a boss battle.
But, lately, I find myself using the trainers to get through a game that is just freaking boring. And there are a LOT of games out there that are boring nowadays. Thank God for steam refund, lol.
And, I hate to say it, but I am getting up there in years, and my hand is not so steady anymore, and my brain doesnt think fast enough because I am on serious meds, so I need a trainer just to play some games.
