Having played up to mission 4 now (just got to the smartgun part), I have to say this game is actually... well, great.
It took a bit for me to warm to it, but I "get it" now. The atmosphere is spot-on.
One thing I figured out - you MUST follow the instructions on the "brightness" setting screen. All games ask you to move the slider until the logo is BARELY visible. Well, in this game, they mean it.
It not only makes the atmosphere better, it improves the graphics. Really!
All I can figure is that they DESIGNED the textures and the lighting to work with the correct brightness level. Most people (including me when I started playing) will probably set it way too high.
If you think the game looks naff, just try it. Go to the brightness screen in the video options and do EXACTLY what it says. See if your game doesn't suddenly look twice as good. The flashlight looks better, the muzzle flashes and random sparks look better, the aliens look better, and all the jumping shadows look better.
It actually begins to look more like the movie.
Also, keep your motion tracker up all the time you're not in combat. I don't know why, but for me at least, it makes the game feel much more suspenseful and believable. And it helps you find collectibles, which helps you get XP, which helps you get better guns. Win / win / win, as Sir Hammerlock would say.
(Now, how many people will accuse me of being a Gearbox employee, especially after that Hammerlock reference?? LOL)
Just got through this game and besides all the things and issues most people have talked about already I have to say that Im really confused about the ending. Not sure what the ending is supposed to mean at all but maybe someone is able to enlighten me since I dont have a single clue :/

I have to admit the ending was rather confusing. Even fighting the queen was meh....
Single player was enjoyable i mean you have weird AI and such but its a nice thing to noticed that it was film inspired. Now i can't say anything about the MP as the variables are random depending on host, since its matchmaking anything can happen but for the most part it is playable.
I will agree however that the fight against the queen defiantly was meh...

This would of been a great game, if it had been released in 2005. But as it stands this is a game that is not worth the price tag. Honestly, this is a total let down by Gearbox, who shelved what could of been a great game so that they could make Borderlands 2. The real victims in all this is the gamers who bought it and Sega who got the run around from a developer.
I hope to the gods Sega sues the crap out of Gearbox. Not only did we get false advertisement with those seductive demos they released, but Gearbox sent the work they should of been doing to several other developers. It's all around a crappy deal.
