One question though, since you specifically mentioned getting the retail version is the trainer compatible with that edition of the game if that's how it works? (Or at least I guess it's how it works if retail is not tied to Steam? Thus a different exe and trainer compatibility problems.)
I bought the game on amazon in dvd form which I always thought meant retail but is still tied to Steam (I hate steam)or you could buy it on Steam. I assume the Steam ver is only soft, no dvd.
I should update(correct) what happens... If I start the trainer first then the game, the trainer crashes immediately as I wrote before.
If I start the game first then the trainer, the Game crashes immediately. Since I could not Alt-Tab out of the game I had to Alt-Enter into Windowed mode to run the trainer after the game was started. Don't know if that makes a difference.
Also Q3E Minimizer does not work on the game for Alt-Tab alternative.
I still do not know how to tell what ver of the game I have because I can't tell if Steam updated or not. The BFG.exe shows 1.0.0.1 file version but I don't know if that means anything with Steam.
@ 0x90 I use a shortcut direct to the Doom3BFG.exe, but Steam automatically starts anyway. I have tried starting through Steam & direct, on & offline mode. All with the same previous results. Exe coming your way.
