The biggest issue with why Blizzard would want to prevent cheating is because they are implementing a real money auction house in D3 where Blizzard gets a percentage of the sell. So yes, Blizzard wants to keep out the potential of fraud in their Auction House.
I hate this always on crap. I should not have to be connected to the internet to play a single player game. Multi-player yes, single-player no.
The idea of the auction using real money is a terrible idea. People are pry going to spend hundreds of dollars on rare items that they could get for free by just playing the game and exploring areas.
for me the hype was huge when it was announced, but I'm not even interrested in the game today - and havent been for awhile - so wont be playing this one (or much else from Blizzard for that matter hehe)
I won't be buying diablo 3 for sure! Back when WOW starts going online, I stopped buying their products. This whole thing about Blizzard enforcing their own "commercial legislation" is stupid and primitive! Just b'coz they can't protect their own product copyrights, everyone has to suffer! bah!

They are 100% online, which I believe is the stupidest thing Blizzard has done yet. Single-player/open bnet allowed you to modify your local files, thus allowing mods to exist. There are a lot of fun mods that I still play.

I agree with u, All i did was duel as well in d2, Of course i played the regualr game & beat it in all catagories without hacks or anything but tht got boredsom after a while so i went to open bnet which when stuff start got fun, closed is kool but still boring.
