Another advantage with towers is that a lot of the components are reasonably easy to upgrade ( RAM , Graphics Card , Power Supply etc ) plus add ons like monitors , keyboards , mice etc can be chopped and changed over time . Laptops are pretty much as they come by comparison . If you want a computer to play games on then buy a nice powerful desktop . Like the others have said , for a gaming laptop you could end up spending well over 1000 pounds ( or $1500 ) . For that sort of money you could get a great tower with a 64 bit OS , 8gb or more of ram , a great graphics card and processor and far , far better cooling than any laptop can provide . For the same money as a gaming laptop a desktop would be maybe twice as powerful ( or more ) and last a lot longer due to the far superior cooling . Laptops are better for using as internet devices on the move or second computers for bedrooms and stuff . If it's for use as your main computer then steer clear of them ( any of them ) and save your cash and get yourself a monster pc
Alienware 17x and 10mx r 2 different laptops with different specs and The Witcher 2 lags even on some pretty decent desktops so that doesn't make the 17x a bad laptop but that's besides the point. my 17x happens to perform pretty well. point is no matter how good a laptop is..it will always have limitations when it comes to playing games. the main purpose of a laptop as we all well know is to provide mobility. true gaming laptops r very expensive and u can easily set up a really powerful rig for half their price. so..i'd suggest a desktop.

Hmm maybe I should get a 17x then I have one for gaming and one for sites and all that żżż
Not sure what your lookin to spend but I bought a alienware I paid 5800 but I think u can still get a decent one with minimal step up for around 2500 maybe, mine was expensive just because I got all highest upgrades
Woah woah woah. *pause* Someone needs to change the title of this thread. Since people have told me laptops are not great (and yes their components are proprietary etc etc.) let's focus on desktops. I am looking for something that can run your average addictions. Fallout 3, CoD4, etc. I need something that will run without lag.
