Can you edit the DB files?

Yup, as long as you know what you are doing. 💛

My bad, I didn't use the link you provided yesterday (4/3) and was wondering why it was still on 1.6.3 and you had 1.6.4. They updated the OP today, and yes I can navigate it as long as I can edit the db files (which is all you really need for unit stats( well I am preaching to the quior with you). I have a vast amount of space on my multiple drives filled with my own Empire packs!! Love TWC, they are some true historical gamers/modders who have the passion that ALL gaming developers SHOULD have.

If you can't say it face to face, don't say it here!!

I think I lost the progress of this thread, so where do I download the file again?

I just want to change the range of my matchlock soldiers to a bit longer range.

Okay I downloaded the program and opened the DB file, but where do I find the projectile data and change it?

Projectile is called projectile in the .pack file. It is arrange in alphabetical order so it should not be hard to find. Anyway, you change the matchlock range and it will change everyone else using that weapon since the range is related to weapon, not the unit. The only thing you can affect for units alone are accuracy, reloading etc.

You can lower the accuracy of the archers to compensate for their longer range while you can improve the accuracy and reloading of your matchlock units so they won't be completely useless.

Thanks, I will just mess around with the parameters to see what's the best. I don't like how the arrow weapon performance in this game just a bit though, they fly farther than the bullets (150m compared to 100m for bullets) and more accurate.

EDIT: okay I just ran into a situation, I replaced the data pack file with the altered parameter one, and the game crashed to desktop upon starting, anyone experienced this?

No, I have not experienced that. But I have experienced modding units in the past so I know what I am doing mostly. I don't know what you did, but sometimes you may need to edit more than one file (for example changing a unit's weapon involves 3 to 4 files to edit). Also, this version of PFM is still very unstable, so I would suggest operating within it's limitations for now (simple editing only) especially if you are new to modding.

Also a rule of thumb, always backup your file when you are modding files.

I know I am asking for much but can anyone make Chosokabe troop modded pack like the one Apocalypse11 did? I suck at computers and will never be able make one myself. Would be great to get a archers maximum pimped.
    Thank you in advance

The safest bow unit to edit without the AI getting any advantage to it is the range of the hero units since I have not notice them using heroes. Thing is, only the legendary archer building can recruit them. I was thinking of having them available to master archer building but I was worried that the AI might recruit them. Without altering the weapon range, you can alter the unique archer of Chosokabe to have high accuracy, reload, more troops and more ammo using PFM 1.6.4 or 1.6.5.

Anyhow, I can upload you a file or I can make you a tutorial. The tutorial is the best way since once you get the basics of modding units, you can pretty much do anything.
