we are working to find a solution so that you might not have to use a no-dvd fix for the current version of the game. for now it is the best way to have no crashes, but stay tuned-
best, Cal

Many thanks. I do not like to use no cd fix, so Yes, I stay tuned. Great job - thanks again.
Read the whole thread or first post, that should explain everything.
Yeah thanks captain obvious. I DID read the whole thread before posting. just in case there was a solution mentioned before I posted.
What I'm saying is, the trainer just doesn't work for me. Dunno if I'm allowed to mention this but; yeah I am using a NoCD/Steam Crack still no joy though.
dunno who made my crack but I'm gonna try another one.
Specifically I imagine the trainer is targeted at Skidrows fixed "proper" (Some say it suffers from memory leaks and is unstable over longer periods of play time however.) modified exe and of course the original Steam exe (Game is tied to Steam and also uses Steamworks.), there are others though and that might be why some people have problems getting the current trainer to work, both the above works for me with the trainer so I guess those are the versions it supports. (I prefer using the original but it will shut down or even crash due to the CEG protection code in it that Skidrow removed so I've been alternating between both, different profiles but copying the saves over to the current one works as to keep things compatible.)
The first DLC should also be out later next week, Jimmy's Vendetta, not to be confused with Betrayal of Jimmy which is currently a PS3 exclusive.
Seems to have numerous timed segments but hopefully the current trainer code will be compatible or easy enough to update should a patch or similar come out beforehand to add any needed functionality for the DLC to work with the game, must be annoying with stuff like LIVE and now Steam or CEG blocking the common (?) trainer methods and such.
Link (Worthplaying article about the DLC, mostly about the images showing the timer stuff but also contains other info of course.)
the TRAINER doesnt shut the game down... the GAME shuts itself down. it's clearly in the instructions as to WHY:
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS GAME SCANS ITSELF FOR CHANGES TO THE GAME CODE. SOME OF THESE OPTIONS MIGHT CAUSE THE GAME TO EXIT IF LEFT ON TOO LONG. IF YOU USE THE NO-DVD VERSION OF THE GAME, YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO PIRACY, GAMES COMPANIES ARE PUTTING MORE AND MORE SCANNERS IN THEIR GAMES TO DETECT IF THE GAME IS A PIRATED GAME AND TO CHECK FOR CHANGES TO THE GAME EXECUTABLE. TURN OPTIONS OFF WHEN NOT NEEDED.
also the trainer puts up a WARNING at the beginning when you launch it. this will happen with ANY trainer you use for certain events in the game (especially trainers with ALOT of options). The only solution is to use the NO-DVD .exe which you can find online OR to shut all options OFF when not using them and during loading and etc., which is why we added the key for this. The trainer is NOT shutting the game down, the game shuts itself down if it detects that something is changed in it's game code (by things like trainers). also, if you are using RAPID FIRE with tommy guns and there are many other cops using them at same time, then it's possible that all the calculations of the bullets and reflections, etc. could cause the game to FAULT due to the calcs and memory. i saw this happen a few times.
