I haven't been in a game store for months. Most of my purchases, of which there are few, are on Steam, and I'm extremely frugal in my purchases. I mainly wait for specific games to be put on special while playing what I already have.
Amen, Steam + specials = awesome.

How addicted to games are you? the reason I ask is that today I went to the my local game store, I was only meant to buy a gift card but I thought I would look around and see if anything caught my eye, I ended up buying a box set with 9 games in it!!!! I couldn't help my self!! it was on sale has anyone ever had a similar situation?
i'd say...very..although not as much as a few years ago. but what happened to u has happened quite a few times with me and i ended up with games i didn't like eventually.

Exactly. Right now I bought a game box that had 6 games for just 9 bucks, all of them are original. And one of them was Dark Sector.
And that was the only decent game, rest of them came from the trash can, like Yakuza's revenge, Blind shot, Instinct, etc.
And I haven't even heard of the first two.

I don't think "game addiction" and "buying more than you meant to" are the same thing. Otherwise, I'm addicted to music, DVDs, books, ice cream and t-shirts all of which I buy in excess.
But yeah, when I went to get my sister's birthday present, I ended up with two games for myself. Same when I've bought presents for friends, or even just been browsing Steam.

I really don't have the money for gaming any more.
I recieve about R400 a month from my father, the equivalent of about $40. I generally use this money to buy things while at hostel, junk food, school stuff etc. and at the end of the month I end up with very little money left over for things like games.
I would use things which are cheaper, e.g. Steam, but I don't have the internet to do so. With a 1 Gig internet cap a month, I can barely play a game online, much less download one.
So I'm left with only 3 ways of getting games. Piracy which I'd rather not do.
My birthday and Christmas, which sucks because by the time I reach these dates there are probably 10-20 titles I'd like to get, but I only end up recieving about 6 or 7.
And then there is leeching off my friends, which they don't really mind, but it's not the same as owning the title for yourself.
I'm definitely NOT addicted to video games, maybe at a younger age but not now, when you grow up you sort of get side tracked with other responsibilities. Although I still play alot video games, but I practically never buy them, I do one of two things currently since games cost a bit much, I a) borrow them off a mate, or b) Buy the game, beat the game, then get a refund. Currently I only "own" 3 games that being Prince of Prince(a Christmas gift), Smackdown! vs RAW 2010, and Final Fantasy 13.
